Graduation time!

Gym open during graduation week 27-31 March 2023

It is time to celebrate the achievements of our graduating students. Graduation is also a time for reflection and recognition of the countless hours of hard work, dedication, and determination that brought them to this moment. This week is a momentous occasion for the graduating seniors – it marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. It is a moment to savour and look back at all they accomplished during their time here. For their families, it is a time to feel proud and grateful for their children’s success. We celebrate the graduates’ accomplishments now, but we must also acknowledge the challenges they overcame to get to graduation day. From tests, projects, and internships to sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities, they balanced a significant amount of work while managing their social lives and taking care of their mental health. We commend them for their perseverance and dedication, wish them all the best in their future endeavors, and know that they will do remarkable things! The March graduation series will take place from Monday, 27 March to Friday, 31 March, at the Coetzenburg Athletics Stadium, adjacent to Maties Gymnasium. The good news is that we have official permission to remain open during graduation week. Most of our classes will not take place this week, except for Yoga, Pilates, and our 06:00 am classes. Sadly, we must limit our group exercise classes due to the noise levels of the classes and music. This is, unfortunately, the small price we must pay if we want to operate during the Graduation week, which we usually would not be able to do.Classes will be back to normal from 4 April 2023.Parking arrangementsMembers of the procession will be allocated dedicated parking at Maties Hockey. Click here for the map. Please note that parking will only be valid for the ceremony. Gym members may experience some traffic congestion driving up and down Southbank Avenue and leading up to the parking area below the Coetzenburg Centre. If possible, walk up to the gym or share a ride with a friend.Take a look at our timetable during graduation week Maties Gym TimetableMeet you in the gym!The Maties Gym Team

As many of you may know, our local animal shelters and rescuers work tirelessly to care for abandoned, neglected, and abused pets. These organizations would not be able to operate without the generous support of our community. One thing that always helps is donations of dog food. Many of these groups face increased financial strain and need help providing food for the dogs in their care.If you have unopened bags or cans of dog food you no longer need, we encourage you to consider donating. Every donation, big or small, can make a difference in ensuring these pets have enough to eat while they wait for their forever homes.Thank you for considering this vital act of kindness and generosity. You can drop off donations at the front desk.
